SWM Facilities
Construction and Maintenance

Stormwater ponds help to protect receiving waters by settling out pollutant-laden sediment that is carried in urban stormwater runoff. The effective long-term operation of stormwater management ponds and wetlands relies on effective inspection and maintenance practices. The largest and most costly maintenance task involves the removal, hauling and safe disposal of potentially contaminated sediment. At Boom Construction, we successfully maintain and construct multiple SWM facilities each year. From large quantities of sediment removal to new construction, our pond crews take responsibility for the complete project. With the utilization of long reach excavators, dewatering procedures, watertight dump trucks, and certified disposal sites. We have the equipment and extensive experience in this specific sector to effectively get even the dirtiest of jobs done.

The removal of sediment from an existing vegetated facility is extremely invasive. We understand this and strive to get the task done with minimal restoration costs while still respecting the surrounding community, creeks, and wetlands.

New SWM Construction

Prior to us putting a shovel in the ground we will review the drawings and provide our professional opinion on the proposed construction plan. GCLs (Geosynthetic Clay Liners), sediment drying areas, pond access, and spillways are some of the overlooked areas. They can usually be improved to provide the client with a fully functional facility that will be less costly to maintain in the future.
